We’re back in action. Back with our regular programming. Back for another year of the Freshpaint 5.
Rather than give you a long intro full of cliche jokes about the new year and fake resolutions, I'll just cut to the chase.
In this week’s newsletter, I’ve got an update about a new conversion action we just added for our Google Ads integration, a bunch of good events for 2024, a podcast episode about healthcare privacy as a competitive edge, and some news out of New York that you might’ve missed last week.
Let’s get to it…
Product Update
There’s a special functionality in Google Ads for measuring conversions that result in a phone call. It works like this…when searchers click an ad and land on a page where Google Ads call conversions are configured, Google will inject a unique phone number onto the page.
Because the number is unique to the searcher, when that number is called, Google is able to associate the user who performed the ad click with the user who called the number, resulting in a conversion.
Pretty neat, right?
Unfortunately, that conversion action has one that has been off-limits to a lot of healthcare marketers…*cue dramatic music*...until now.
Freshpaint now supports that conversion action! It’s one of the few that we haven’t previously supported but we can now check that one off the list. It’s another step on our journey to make our Healthcare Privacy Platform a one-stop-shop for all healthcare marketing.

Freshpaint Webinar: February 6, 2024 @ 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET It’s been over a year since HHS released its guidance on online tracking technologies. In that time, healthcare marketers have varied in their responses. Some chose a conservative route, minimizing online trackers which negatively impacts their marketing performance. Others ignore the guidance, risking fines and legal issues. However, a forward-thinking group is navigating a new path: they're embracing the guidance unlocking new, high-performance marketing tactics. Attend this webinar and learn how these innovators are leading the way in performance marketing in 2024.

Freshpaint's Compliant Corner
Privacy can be a competitive edge in healthcare. We’ll say it louder for the people in the back: PRIVACY CAN BE A COMPETITIVE EDGE IN HEALTHCARE.
How?
By embracing data privacy, you actually unlock a number of technologies that were previously off-limits to healthcare marketers.
I won’t spoil the entire story since:
It would take me a while to explain it in this email
Ray Mina, our Head of Marketing, does a great job of breaking this idea down in a podcast episode with SHSMD
Tune in to the episode to learn more about how embracing privacy can put you ahead of your peers at other healthcare orgs.
So many folks were OOO last week so you’re excused if you missed the news about New York Presbyterian’s $300K fine for its use of tracking technologies.
According to the statement from New York’s Attorney General, NYP used third-party tools to track visitors to its website for marketing purposes from June 2016 to June 2022.
Notice something interesting about those dates? It all happened BEFORE the HHS released their updated guidance about the use of web tracking technologies.
So, once again, get your tracking tech in order if you haven’t already.
